Scaling-up climate finance in the era of Covid-19
by Yannick GLEMAREC, Executive Director of the du GREEN CLIMATE FUND (GCF)
Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 2 to 3 p.m. – ONLINE
How can we trigger the global low-carbon transition in the COVID 19 economic context?
To this question, Y. Glemarec gave some elements of answer, as we are witnessing an aggravation of poverty in all countries, as well as increased difficulties for developing countries to access the financing needed to fill their infrastructure deficit in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
His presentation focused on GCF’s contribution to the Green Horizon Summit of the World Economic Forum on November 9-11, 2020. Drawing on the experience of the CVF and the Development Banks regarding barriers to the supply of low carbon projects, it will show, with a view to COP26, how to draw from this experience proposals on how to shift and trigger the redirection of global savings needed to make the 2°C objective a lever for a fair economic recovery.
